We all love food, don’t we? But it’s not always easy to tell which foods are truly healthy and which ones are unhealthy. Some foods might seem healthy at first glance, but then you find out they’re packed with unhealthy fats, preservatives, and artificial ingredients that can harm our health.

Labels like ‘healthy’ or ‘natural’ can be misleading, as some of these products damage our health in the long run. Foods that are detrimental to our health tend to be high in calories, sugar, fat, or salt, while lacking essential nutrients like fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals. They also contain harmful chemicals or be made from low-quality animal parts.

Excessive consumption of these unhealthy foods can lead to weight gain, obesity, cancer, serious inflammation and chronic illnesses such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Spread products like Margarine for example are marketed as a healthier substitute for butter but it’s high in trans fat. Trans-fat has been linked to increased risk for heart disease and stroke. According to the American Heart Association, trans-fatty acids raise the levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and reduce the levels of “good” cholesterol (HDL). Additionally, trans-fat also increases inflammation in the body, which can contribute to various health conditions.
